Who We Are

26 years ago, brothers Dom and Ben Noonan started Noonan Strength Systems within the Moorhead Youth Hockey facility. They realized that strategic training off the ice was the key to an athlete’s superior performance on the ice. In 2009, following a desire and passion to bring health, fitness, and elite level sports training to athletes of all sporting backgrounds, and to the greater Fargo-Moorhead community, Dom partnered with Abby Walker to launch Max Training.

Whether you’re an elite athlete, youth athlete, or motivated adult, we will provide you with a complete, individualized training program to help you reach your goals. At Max Training, we take pride that we are not “just a health club,” but a training facility. We train for the way we were meant to move. Each program is designed with proper biomechanics to promote a pain-free lifestyle. We strongly believe in fixing movement patterns, muscular imbalances, and waking up the central nervous system before moving to the next level of training. We preach proper nutrition and hydration, as well as adequate rest to maximize recovery.

Max is also the home of the patented Cormax Training System developed by Moorhead natives and brothers, Dave and Kent Karlstrom. Cormax systems are used world-wide in gyms and training centers from small town high schools to professional facilities, including those for the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears.

At Max Training we build a foundation and pathway for lifelong fitness and create long-lasting relationships with the members of our community. It doesn’t matter what level you are at; we will give you the tools you need to grow, live, and become the best version of yourself.

Our team of trainers have the education and certifications to make sure you receive safe and results-driven training. Whether you are trying to lose weight and build muscle, train for an event, or begin your journey to a healthier lifestyle, we can create a program for you. Our training will keep you engaged and motivated to come back day after day and give your best. We do not believe in the one-size-fits all approach and take pride in our individualized training. We can help get you moving properly and back to the things you love.

Athletes

Every athlete has the potential to improve. Max Training is here to help you make it happen. We’re not only trainers, but ultimately teachers. We educate our athletes on how to become their best. Our programs are designed from our years of experience training youth and high level athletes. There is no guessing game, we know what works. We individualize our training programs to address your specific needs and goals. We focus on the components an athlete needs to be successful on and off the rink, court, field, trails, or pitch.

  • Mentality
    Are you a leader? Can you perform under pressure?
  • Reaction
    Do you have the reaction time and skills to make quick decisions during play?
  • Physical
    Do you possess the speed, strength, power, and agility that provide athleticism?
  • Awareness
    Do you have good body awareness? Proprioception and balance.
  • Recovery/ Restoration
    We teach our athletes the importance of recovery to perform at the highest level. From rest to nutrition and hydration we coach our athletes on when and why these are necessary.

Two years ago I took a chance on myself and began a journey I have restarted multiple times. This time I tried something new, I reached out to Abby and now I can’t imagine my mornings without her or the rest of the amazing humans that support and uplift each other at Max Training.

Both our boys performed well in football, wrestling, track and field and other athletic events throughout their youth and qualified for the Minnesota State High School Wrestling Tournament in consecutive years, placing several times, including a State Championship.
